This device utilizes various frequency waves to determine the resonance frequency of concrete by analyzing its response. It can measure transverse, longitudinal, and torsional resonance frequencies. The Forced Vibration method is used to apply an impact to concrete samples and obtain their dynamic modulus. The resonance frequency measurement, according to ASTM C666 standard, is the most common method used to obtain concrete's resistance against repeated melting and freezing cycles. The dynamic elastic modulus of concrete samples can be measured using the resonance frequency, and a decrease in the elastic modulus after melting and freezing cycles indicates the extent of damage.
